Tell us about your hometown, family and hobbies.
My hometown is St. Albert, Alberta. I have lived here since I was about 1 year old and live with my mom, dad and 14 year-old sister. When I am away from the rink I love to go to the gym and workout, as well as play basketball with my friends.
How did you originally begin playing hockey (what age as well) and what is your favorite memory from when you were younger?
When I was about 4 years old my dad introduced me to the idea of playing hockey. At first, I wasn’t really into it but the first year I played I began to love the game and wanted to continue. My favorite hockey memory is from my season playing U16 AAA in St. Albert when we went to Phoenix for a tournament. The whole trip was great, and the hockey & activities off the ice (Top Golf) were a blast, as well as the Coyotes game.
Who is your favorite NHL player and who do you model your game after? Why?
My favorite player has always been Sidney Crosby. The Pens have been my favorite team since I was young and he is a great leader, as well as a overall fun player to watch. I model my game after Evgeni Malkin, though, because he is a big power forward with quick hands and an elusive shot, which I also feel are my biggest strengths.
What team did you play for? What was your favorite part from the season?
This season I played for the St. Albert Crusaders. Unfortunately, we didn’t have much of a season only playing one game. My favorite part of the season was definitely going to practice every Tuesday & Thursday night once the restrictions were lifted, because it was always a fun time with the guys and we enjoyed running drills again.
What are your top goals as a student athlete? Why are they your top goals?
My top goals as a student athlete are to maintain good grades in school and excel in my sport. My goal is an 80% core average in all my classes, as well as increasing my production this coming season to a point-per-game. These are my top goals because I understand how important school is and how it is the way you start to succeed in life. Also, I love to score and put points on the board when I’m playing.
How important is school from your perspective? Why is it that way?
School is extremely important from my perspective, because it sets you up for opportunities in a good career and a promising future.
What would it mean to you to play at the NCAA or Pro level?
It would be a dream come true and a great learning experience all at once. I’m constantly focused on improving and putting in the dedicated efforts to reach that level.
What separates you as a player or person? How do you continue to get better?
My size and shot separate me as a player. I have always had an excellent shot, which is my strongest asset. I am also “6,2” which gives me a size advantage while competing in puck battles. What separates me as a person is that I am very personable and can make friends easily. I’m not shy, get along with others with ease and enjoy being a leader in all environments.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
I am looking to succeed in hockey in such a way that it sets me up for opportunities in the future. Whether it is through sports or other career paths, I would like to learn as much as I can and develop life skills while enjoying my time playing.
One fun fact about yourself.
