Tell us about your hometown, family and hobbies.
My hometown is Medicine Hat but I was born in Lethbridge and moved when I was 3. I have an older sister named Brianna who figured skated growing up. My hobbies outside of hockey include golfing as well as fishing
How did you originally begin playing hockey (what age as well) and what is your favourite memory from when you were younger?
I started skating when I was 3 years old and began to play hockey when I was 4. I started playing because my parents had signed me up and I fell in love immediately. My favourite memory growing up was all the bus trips I had with my teammates.
Who is your favourite NHL player and who do you model your game after? Why?
My favourite player is Sidney Crosby and I model my game after Patrice Bergeron because he is a 200-foot player who can be relied on at any moment in the game
What team do/did you play for? What was your favorite part from the season?
I played for the South Alberta Hockey Academy (SAHA). My favourite part of the season was winning the Mac’s tournament
What are your top goals as a student athlete? Why are they your top goals?
My goal as a student-athlete is to play university hockey while receiving an education. These are my goals because I value education as well as the opportunity to continue to play the game I love
How important is school from your perspective? Why is it that way?
School is very important to me. When the time comes for me to stop playing hockey, I will have my schooling to fall back on.
What would it mean to you to play at the NCAA or Pro level?
It would mean the world to me. All the work I have put into myself like the extra reps in the gym or on-ice and all the money, time, and sacrifices my parents have made for me will have paid off.
What separates you as a player or person? How do you continue to get better?
Communication and leadership. I have been given the honour of being captains on different teams and have been able to help bring the team closer together. I am able to talk to everyone and have a sense of what they may need in order to bring them up during an off game. I continue to get better by not cheating myself and always doing extra reps in the gym or on the ice.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports careers (community, team, success, etc.)
I want to leave behind a legacy to the younger players of someone who is dedicated and willing to do to get a win. Willing to go out of my way to support the guys who need it and be a fan of the guys who are doing well.
One fun fact about yourself.
I played lacrosse and competed in the Alberta Summer Games.
