Tell us about your hometown, family and hobbies.
I grew up in the Spiritwood area up until this past year when I was asked to play with the Indigenous Sports Academy in Saskatoon. My family is pretty big I have 4 uncles and 2 aunties on my mom’s side, and I have 1 uncle and 2 aunties on my dad’s side. All my uncles played hockey when they were younger including my auntie Alyshea and my dad, my mom played volleyball. I like to play hockey and go to the gym.
How did you originally begin playing hockey (what age as well) and what is your favourite memory from when you were younger?
My dad and I started playing mini sticks then shortly after I started to learn how to skate then after. I started to have lots of love for the game, my favourite memory is when my team in atom won the whole league I scored 7 goals in the final game.
Who is your favourite NHL player and who do you model your game after? Why?
Nathan Mackinnon he’s my favourite player because of the way he is always aware of his surroundings on the ice and can create nothing into something, he is very fast. I feel like I model my game after him too because I can play at fast speeds and create offence when I am on the ice.
What team do/did you play for? What was your favorite part from the season?
Indigenous sports academy, my favourite part from the season was when we went to Victoria, BC for a tournament. It was my favourite part from the season because we got to go sightseeing and it was the first airplane I’ve ever taken for hockey.
What are your top goals as a student athlete? Why are they your top goals?
To play in the WHL then hopefully play in the NHL. They are my top goals because I love playing the sport, it’s what I want to do for as long as I can
How important is school from your perspective? Why is it that way?
I think it is a very important part of my life, so I have something else to do if hockey doesn’t work out for me.
What would it mean to you to play at the NCAA or Pro level?
It would mean a lot to me because it has been my dream ever since I started playing.
What separates you as a player or person? How do you continue to get better?
I think my speed and passing abilities I can find certain places to pass the puck through and my height I am pretty tall for my age, I continue to get better from going to the gym every day and keeping a mindset of I will make it one day.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports careers (community, team, success, etc.)
I want to have a big impact on my home town, I want to help inspire kids and help them to know that nothing is impossible if you give it your all.
One fun fact about yourself.
I like syrup on eggs.
