Tell us about your hometown, family and hobbies.
I was born in Edmonton and have lived here all my life. I am one of 4 children. I have an older brother and sister, and a younger sister. We all played sports growing up. Most days my parents got home from work, took a kid or two, and off they went again shortly after to drive us to where we needed to be. My parents supported and encouraged us all to play at least one sport. My hobbies include playing basketball, checking out hockey and basketball stats, and watching all sports on TV. Hockey is the sport that I enjoy playing the most, I am on the ice most days of the week. I head to the court to shoot hoops with friends in my spare time.
How did you originally begin playing hockey (what age as well) and what is your favourite memory from when you were younger?
I started skating at 3 years old. The story is that I did not want to go on the ice at first, so my dad got me hockey pants and push me on the ice. He quickly walked away as I was kicking and screaming, and I soon realized I was on my own. That’s when I got up, gave it a try, and realized how much I liked it. As a toddler I always had a mini stick in my hands, I even slept with one. Ever since I could remember my favourite place to be is at a rink.
Who is your favourite NHL player and who do you model your game after? Why?
My favourite hockey player is Sidney Crosby. I admire how humble he is and the great hockey career he has. I model my game after Quinn Hughes and Rasmus Dahlin as offensive defensemen. Mimicking their styles lifts my game, as their offensive presence is what I want to offer, while still being elite defenders.
What team do/did you play for? What was your favorite part from the season?
2021/2022 was my first year of U18. I played on the Canadian Athletics Club U18AA Butchers and Packers team. I had the opportunity to play with a great team of players. We won the league championship this year and took silver at provincials.
What are your top goals as a student athlete? Why are they your top goals?
My top goal as a student athlete is to get an NCAA scholarship while playing the sport I love. Hockey has been a big part of my life and I would love to continue to play competitively while I work towards my career goals.
How important is school from your perspective? Why is it that way?
School is very important as it is the way to a great school where I would further my education towards my career of choice. School is also important for growth and opportunity and assists with further in-depth conversations with others.
What would it mean to you to play at the NCAA or Pro level?
To play NCAA or pro-level hockey would be dream come true for me. Hockey is my true passion.
What separates you as a player or person? How do you continue to get better?
I enjoy strong honest feedback that helps me become more successful as a player. My goal is to always get better. I have a strong hockey IQ and I truly enjoy practice ice time and working better to be a better player.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports careers (community, team, success, etc.)
I want to share my passion for the sport and see that in others. Help push others to get the best of themselves and me. In my community I want to help and be a good person, to show that hockey and team sports help make a person more aware and helpful. A community is a team, and a team is what makes us all better.
