Tell us about your hometown, family and hobbies.
My name is Ethan Cerone, and my hometown is Edmonton, Alberta. My family has helped me a lot through hockey and have made constant sacrifices to help me succeed. They have helped me through hard times and celebrated the good times. I cannot thank my family enough for what they have done for me and how much they have helped me throughout the years. My hobbies are boating, dirt biking, fishing, and baseball. As a person, I have a good sense
of humor. I am also kind, organized and responsible. I am always willing to learn new things and I have good time management.
How did you originally begin playing hockey (what age as well) and what is your favorite memory from when you were younger?
I started playing hockey when I was three years old and it originated when my dad put me in a pair of skates and from that initial moment, I just loved it. My favorite memory from when I was younger was in my second year of U13 our team got a chance to go on the ice with the Oilers at their skills competition. As a team, we got to dress in the visitors dressing room, which was very cool. It was also a memory of a lifetime, because we got to meet with most of the oilers and talk to them which was an amazing experience.
Who is your favorite NHL player and who do you model your game after? Why?
My favorite NHL player is Connor McDavid. I also model my game after him because he is a great leader on
and off the ice. He works hard at his craft and is always trying to improve his game. I also model
my game after him because he never gives up and always works hard. These are incredibly
good attributes to have if you want to succeed, and that is why I model my game after him.
What team do/did you play for? What was your favorite part from the season?
I played for the KC U16 AAA Centennials. My favorite part of the season was competing
with all my teammates in practice and playing with them in games. Another bright spot of the
season was our team bonding experiences, as we went golfing which brought our team closer.
What are your top goals as a student athlete? Why are they your top goals?
My top goals as a student athlete are to always work hard, overcome adversity, have good time management and to be organized. These are my goals because I feel like if I focus on these, I will be successful. They keep me focused and determined to do the best I can. These goals are what I am focused on now, and they will be in the future as well. I want to maintain these goals and continue to improve daily to achieve them consistently over time.
How important is school from your perspective? Why is it that way?
To me school is especially important, as it leads to your future and stays with you forever. Education can lead to many
things, and it is important to put the hard work in now so that I can get a good result in the future. I believe this because if I put the hard work in, I will have more opportunity to succeed and I will have more options for my future.
What would it mean to you to play at the NCAA or Pro level?
It would mean a lot for me to play in the NCAA or pro level, because it would feel like a goal accomplished and would give me a chance to have a good education while playing hockey. It would also drive me to keep improving and getting better. Achieving that goal would show how much hard work and dedication it takes to get there and how
hard it is.
What separates you as a player or person? How do you continue to get better?
What separates me from others is I am determined to not give up even if I face adversity. Another thing that separates me as a player, or person, is I am always willing to get better because I know in the end it will only benefit me. Things I do that help me improve are working out in the offseason and during the season, shooting pucks and doing development camps in the offseason.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
An impact I am looking to have in my sport is to always help my team win and have a positive impact on the team. I think helping the community is important because it helps change peoples lives and makes the world a better place. An impact that I am looking for to help me succeed, is to always work hard whether that is education or my sport.
What is a fun fact about you?
A fun fact about me is I was born in Ottawa, Ontario but moved back to Edmonton when I was 18 months old.
