Tell us about your hometown, family and hobbies.
My hometown is Castlegar, BC. I live with both of my parents and younger brother. Some of my hobbies outside of hockey are playing baseball, golf and fishing. I enjoy playing all sports and spending time with my family and cousins.
How did you originally begin playing hockey (what age as well) and what is your favourite memory from when you were younger?
I started playing organized hockey at the age of 5, I participated in a “prep” program for young players. It was pretty informal but a lot of fun. From there I played minor hockey for the first year with the Junior Novice U7. My favorite memory from when I was younger is going to PeeWee Provincial Championships in Powel River BC. Traveling with the team and representing my home town at the provincial level.
Who is your favourite NHL player and who do you model your game after? Why?
My favourite NHL player is Sydney Crosby. I try to model my game after him due to his play making abilities and vision on the ice. I try to be a playmaker as well and look for the best play to make given the circumstances.
What team do/did you play for? What was your favorite part from the season?
I played for the Okanagan Rockets U15AAA team. Winning the semi-final game vs Thompson Rockets in overtime. It was a thrill to win and have the opportunity to play for the gold medal.
What are your top goals as a student athlete? Why are they your top goals?
I am always looking to better myself and to be present at every single teaching and coaching moment. I thrive on learning new things (maybe not so much for science). My goals is to achieve the top marks.
How important is school from your perspective? Why is it that way?
You need to have the good grades to play the sports. How you work off the ice is just as important as what you do on the ice.
What would it mean to you to play at the NCAA or Pro level?
Playing at the next level of hockey would be really special as I am always looking to push myself further and see where my hard work can get me.
What separates you as a player or person? How do you continue to get better?
My vision as a playmaker, my ability to score goals and how relentless I am on the forecheck and backcheck. My hard work every day helps me get better in everything I do.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports careers (community, team, success, etc.)
I want to use my success and recognition in a positive way, so I can be role model for younger kids
One fun fact about yourself.
I am good team player. Not selfish and enjoy supporting everyone each and every game.
